The metabolism of cancer cells and recently also of stromal cells (endothelial cells, immune cells, fibroblasts) have emerged as critical hallmark in the (patho)physiology of organs in healthy and diseased tissue. Evidence indicates that metabolism not only co-determines the differentiation and function of cells, but it also contributes to the pathogenesis of cancer, diabetes and inflammatory diseases. With this international meeting we will focus on how cancer and stromal cells metabolically communicate and how their specific metabolism impacts disease development and progression.
