| Comment: | Human life passes numerous crossroads though we do not always know directions to which the roads may take us. Therefore, being a native and full-blooded man of Cracow I invite you from the capital of the south of Poland to Gdansk, the capital of the northern Poland. Since the fate decided in 2006 that I cannot play host to you in my city I hope that we will meet at the 5th ECPB World Congress in the city with traditions and history almost as old as those of our country. They include also my friends from the Department of Paediatric Surgery of the Medical University of Gdansk headed by Piotr Czauderna. Its employees include also Darek Wyrzykowski who in the most difficult period in my life last year, displaying great courage and determination, took up a challenge to organise this Congress. These men, only slightly supported by me, prepare for you the most favourable conditions available for solid scientific work but also for cultural and eventful leisure.
